Many women with ovarian cancer develop resistance to standard chemotherapy

Endocyte recently completed enrollment in a clinical research study called the PRECEDENT Study which will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of EC145, an investigational drug, in women with ovarian cancer who develop resistance to standard platinum-based chemotherapy.  This research is being conducted by physicians in over 60 locations in the US, Canada and Europe and includes 149 participants.

In the clinical study, participants are being treated either with Doxil®, an approved drug used to treat ovarian cancer, or with a combination of Doxil®  and EC145, the investigational drug.  In other words, all participants receive the standard approved drug and some also receive the investigational drug.

Endocyte is currently planning, but has not begun enrollment for a phase 3 clinical study called PROCEED.  The study will be similar in design to the PRECEDENT study.
